Beauty Secrets

Beauty Secrets

The late Audrey Hepburn was an amazingly talented and beautiful film star.  Grace, poise, generosity and beauty were just some of her assets. Her fashion sense was astounding – she was considered a true fashion icon.  She starred in classic movies such as, Breakfast at Tiffany’s; Roman Holiday; Sabrina; Wait Until Dark; and My Fair Lady.  In addition to her stunning beauty and incredible acting ability, she was a very deep thinker and a great lover of life. She raised money for several humanitarian projects. Over time, she gave us many pearls of wisdom about life, love and beauty – many are still in use today. Always with a kind word or witty phrase, she taught from her heart.

Here is a quote from one of her earlier interviews:

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries or the way she combs her hair.  The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.  True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

It is from this sense of soul that she also delivered these words of wisdom:

  • Elegance is the only beauty that never fades
  • Nothing is impossible; the word itself says, “I’m possible”
  • Anyone who does not believe in miracles is not a realist
  • The best thing to hold onto in life is each other
  • To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow

And with a bit of cheek, she said:

  • Makeup can only make you look pretty on the outside but it doesn’t help your ugly on the inside. Unless you eat the makeup.

Perhaps one of her most inspiring pieces was entitled, “Beauty Secrets”.  It was read at her funeral on January 20, 1993.  She died at the age of 63 from complications of colon cancer.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

you never walk alone.

We leave you a tradition of the future.

The tender loving care of human beings

will never become obsolete.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed,

redeemed and redeemed and redeemed.

you’ll find one at the end of your arm.

As you grow older, you’ll discover that you have two hands:

one for helping yourself, the second for helping others.
