The Holy Oils, Frankincense & Myrrh
If you’ve heard the story of the birth of Jesus, you have likely heard of the gifts given to him, namely Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Most folks know something about Gold, but the other two gifts are somewhat puzzling. Frankincense and Myrrh have been produced and used in Eastern Africa and the Middle East for over 5000 years. For much of this time, these aromatic resins were the region’s most important commodity, being traded throughout Africa, Asia and Europe. Each resin has its own unique story and list of uses. Today, we have access to both the resin and essential oil from these plants. Their uses today continue to assist body~mind~spirit with health and healing – just as they have for thousands of years.
